The Esports World Cup is a blitz double elimination knockout tournament held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia Tue 29th July to Fri 1st Aug 2025. Players: Group A Ian Nepomniachtchi, Andrey Esipenko, Levon Aronian and Vladislav Artemiev. Group B Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, Anish Giri, Arjun Erigaisi, Nihal Sarin. Group C Hikaru Nakamura, Javokhir Sindarov, Alireza Firouzja, Wei Yi. Group D Magnus Carlsen, Nodirbek Abdusattorov, Fabiano Caruana, Jan-Krzysztof Duda. Double elimination is a super complicated format for me to cover. I will round up the games as the event progresses but this is very much an event for watching live on video if you ask me.
