World Rapid and Blitz Championships 2022 - Games and Results

The World Rapid and Blitz Championships took place in Almaty, Kazakhstan 26th to 30th December 2022. World Champion Magnus Carlsen and World Number 1 Rapid player and Hikaru Nakamura, World Number 1 Blitz player, headed a strong field including Richard Rapport, Jan-Krzysztof Duda, MVL Ian Nepomniachtchi, Alexander Grishuk, Fabiano Caruana, Shakhriyar Mamedyarov, the field went deep. Magnus Carlsen won both the World Rapid and Blitz titles and along with the World Championship title he is about to give up holds all three titles for the third time (2014 and 2019 being the other years). Carlsen has made these titles a career target in a way his predecessors did not and has definitely lifted the status of the event immeasurably.
