Magnus Carlsen was the main mover at the top of the standings in Round 10 of the Tata Steel Masters. In spite of playing the late Titled Tuesday (and losing three games) he managed an impressive win. Today he found a very smart way to cause Parham Maghsoodloo problems and eventually outplayed his opponent. Afterwards Carlsen said he was happy to give himself a decent chance of a good tournament result, but pointed out that to win the tournament he is going to have to rely on others. Definitely back in contention though. The leading fixture of the day Wesley So against Anish Giri never really caught fire and was drawn in 34 moves. Nodirbek Abdusattorov played it very safe today against Ding Liren following his trying day in round 9 and there was an early draw. The only other decisive game saw Gukesh beat Praggnanandhaa in a strange game. Gukesh seemed to confuse his opening theory, Praggnanandhaa thought for 42 minutes about his reply and as so often after such long thinks his answer was a lemon and he was struggling for the rest of the game. Vincent Keymer had more endgame trouble as he failed to convert against Jorden Van Foreest in the last game to finish. The final rest day is tomorrow followed by three rounds in a row until Sunday, this tournament really isn't settled yet. FM Michiel Abeln's report below. Mustafa Yilmaz and Alexander Donchenko share the lead in the Challengers. Yesterday Donchenko surprisingly blundered in a technical Rook ending and lost but he got back today with a win, Javokhir Sindarov is half a point further behind.
