The Julius Baer Generation Cup takes place Fri 27th Sep to Tue 1st Oct 2024. The event is the last qualifiying event in the online Champions Chess Tour before the finals in December. The format is the Double Elimination KO format where you have to lose two matches to be out, because everyone deserves a second chance. Magnus Carlsen had to qualify but still reached the final where he will meet Alireza Firouzja who he beat in the winners final, or MVL or Aronian who hope to qualify via the losers route.
