The English Championships took place in Kenilworth, Friday, 18th to Monday, 21st July 2025. Michael Adams beat Nikita Vitiugov in a tie-break match after they tied on 6/7. Then two rapid games (20m+10spm) were both drawn, Adams won the first of two blitz (5m+3spm) games to take the title. The women's section likewise went down to a tie-break with Elmira Mirzoeva winning the first rapid game against Shambavi Hariharan, they had both scored 5.5/7.
