The Women's World Chess Championship match took place in Shanghai and Chongqing July 5th to 24th 2023. Defending Champion Ju Wenjun faced challenger Lei Tingjie in a 12 game match. FIDE Event summary Ju Wenjun won in a fitting finale in game 12 to win 6.5-5.5. This was a sharp fluctuating struggle that was settled in the run up to the first time control on move 40.
