The Chennai Grand Masters chess tournament took place in Chennai Fri 15th - Thu 21st Dec 2023. Players: Maghsoodloo, Erigaisi, Aronian, Gukesh, Sjugirov, Harikrishna, Eljanov and Predke. D Gukesh shared first place and it seems qualified by via the FIDE Circuit route for the Candidates ahead of Anish Giri. It did not occur to me that the first Indian super tournament I can remember was organised for that very purpose but it probably was. Lets do this all differently next time.
